Drop Spindle 101

Dates:  Saturday, September 5th - 1:30-4:30pm or
               Saturday, September 26th - 1:30-4:30pm or
               Saturday, October 24th - 1:30-4:30pm

In this fun, hands-on beginner class, you'll learn the basics of drop spindle spinning and make your very own handspun yarn.  We'll start with the fundamentals of fiber and learn how to prepare it for spinning, how a drop spindle works, and how to draft and twist the fiber into yarn.

No previous spinning experience is necessary.  If you want to play with fiber and are willing to give it a spin, you're ready to join us!

MAX 4 STUDENTS!! This class will fill up quickly, don't wait!

What you will learn:

• The basics of spindle spinning, including:
  • fiber characteristics
  • types of spindles
  • spinning singles
  • plying your singles
  • and finishing your yarn

Materials List (Class Kit available here) or

• High Whorl Drop spindle
  • Needs to be a suspended spindle, no supported spindles
• 1oz OR 30g of Corriedale roving
