Knitting 201:  Beginning Colorwork

Ready to add some color to your knitting? Learn the basics of two-color stranded colorwork while creating a cozy winter ear warmer!

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to work with two colors of yarn, hold and manage your yarn, maintain even tension, use a colorwork chart, and understand color dominance. You’ll put your new skills to work as you knit a warm and stylish ear warmer featuring a simple colorwork design.

No colorwork experience necessary! Basic knitting skills, including knitting, purling, and working in the round, are required.

• What you need to bring to class:
  • Fair Isle Headband pattern by Jane Stringer (available free on Ravelry or at the shop)
  • 2 colors of worsted weight yarn (approxiamately 80 yards of each)
  • US Size 6 (4.0 mm) 16" circular needles 
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers (13 stitch markers and a 14th that is different from the first 13)

HOMEWORK

Cast on in Main Color, join in the round placing beginning of round marker, and complete rows 1, 2 and 3
