Knitting 201: Starlight & Timber Mitts with the designer

When: Wednesdays, October 6th, 13th, & 20th - 6:00-8:00pm
Learn from the designer how to knit a pair of Starlight & Timber Mitts (either fingerless or full mittens) in the round using DPNs.
What You Will Learn:
-Read and follow a mitten pattern
-Knit in the round using DPNs
-Tubular Cast-On
-Creating a thumb gusset on opposite sides of mitts
-Holding and picking up-stitches
-Shape the top of a mitten with appropriate decreases
-Finish mitts with Kitchener Stitch grafting technique and weaving in ends
Required supplies:
- 125 yds bulky weight yarn (photo of mitts was knit using Vientos yarn)
- 1 yd of bulky weight waste yarn
- US size 7 (4.5mm) and size 8 (5mm) double pointed knitting needles
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- one stitch marker
- tape measure
NOTE: If you would like to come with a knitted gauge swatch, it will need to be a 4” swatch= knit 26 rows x 16 stitches using size 8 DPN’s.
