Spinning 201: Beyond the Basics - Intermediate Spinning---THIS CLASS IS INCLUDED IN THE SUMMER CLASS PASS!

Dates:  Wednesday, June 24th - 6-8pm
               Sunday, July 26th - 11am-1pm

Class level: Advanced Beginner (must be able to spin a single ply yarn)

Take your spinning skills beyond the basics in this intermediate spinning class!  We'll explore how twist direction affects your yarn, different plying techniques, wheel tension, spinning woolen and worsted, finishing your yarn, fiber prep and other skills.

What You'll Learn:

  • How different wheels work
  • Wheel tension
  • Fiber prep
  • Roving, braids and rolags
  • Different plying techniques including
    • plying back - sample yarn
    • Navajo plying
  • How to tie on bobbin leader
  • Z & S Twist
  • Spinning woolen and worsted
  • Finishing yarn

Materials needed:

  • Spinning wheel in good working order (Good working order means all parts are in good shape -no missing pieces, and the wheel is balanced.)
  • Fiber for spinning

The "Rent a Wheel" option for this class is purchased separately and includes the use of an Ashford Traditional Single Drive OR Ashford Joy Spinning Wheel

Cost Options:

  • Summer Class Pass Holders:  Class tuition is included with your Pass.  Wheel Rental must be purchased separately and is not included with your Pass.
  • Non-Pass Holder: $24 (bring your own supplies, see list above, and/or rent wheel separately)
