Tapestry 101

Project level: Beginner

Curious about tapestry weaving?  Learn how to turn yarn into art!  This hands-on class introduces the basics of tapestry making, from setting up a loom to creating beautiful woven designs.  This is an entry level course -- no prior weaving experience is necessary.

Materials to purchase for class:

• Frame loom (available for purchase or rent for $15 for duration of class).
• Cotton warp
• Beater or table fork
• Pick up stick (optional)
• Shed stick (optional) 
• Weft yarn in three colors (We recommend Gist Array yarn)
  • One warm, one cool, and one contrast
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Tape measure

Materials Provided:

• Instructor will provide handouts and have samples and reference books.
